The reserve at Opoutama Beach offers on-grass parking on the beach front, and is available for self contained motor caravanners to park overnight.
It's a nice location with plenty of room for large vans. Excellent if you have a kayak wih you and enjoy fishing.
There is some development work going on just opposite the reserve, which may be a future residential area.
It was interesting that a carved Maori Pou had been erected, and we understand that there has been some dispute over the use of the land.
There are large public toilets for the reserve.
