GISBORNE: EAST CAPE

The Te Puka Tavern has a magnificent view over Tokomaru Bay and provides overnight parking for self-contained motor caravanners.

We stopped there briefly on a glorious sunny afternoon, and spent some time chatting with a couple who were staying in the hotel. 

If you stay overnight, you should check in to the tavern reception. There is power available if you need it.

Evening meals and breakfasts are available, to make a welcome break from cooking.  The view from the outdoor dining area is stunning.

There is a boat ramp for accessing the harbour, and you're likely to find good fishing spots if you ask at the tavern reception.
