Boat Harbour Campsite is the first of the Kaikoura Coastal Campsites as you're driving north. It's located right on the beach and offers all the usual facilities.
We called in just to check it out, having spent the night at the Omihi campsite. It also provides parking right on the beach front. We couldn't check the showers and toilets because they had a combination lock, and were for paying campers only.
There were quite a few long-term campers, but there was still plenty of room for casual visitors.
