Self-contained motor caravanners can freedom camp in the reserve alongside the northern banks of the Waimakariri River.
Camping is permitted only west of Harrs Rd on the north bank. Watch for flooding during heavy rain.
Access is down a narrow gravel driveway. A quiet location, but also rather isolated.
