The Powerstation Lakes are a simply stunning part of New Zealand!

The Waikato river source is Lake Taupo and flows through the Waikato region until it flows into the Tasman sea at Port Waikato. There are 8 dams along the river that were built to provide hydro-electric power, and this has created a fabulous series of lakes a with recreation reserves for everyone to enjoy. For motor caravanners, you can freedom camp right on the waters edge, enjoy kayaking and fishing, or just chill out and enjoy some stunning scenery.

We start at Lake Karapiro, just south of Cambridge, and follow the river down to Lake Atiamuri.
