The club building and main entrance
Wanganui East Club is a private club that offers self-contained motor caravanners free overnight parking and also restaurant meals on each evening except for Monday.
We called in on a Sunday evening just before 8pm after travelling all day down the coast from New Plymouth. There were four other motor caravanners parked together on the grass verge around the side of the car park, but we opted to park on the sealed surface. Unfortunately, we arrived just as the restaurant was closing for the evening, but were otherwise made very welcome.
There is also a public dumpstation that we took advantage of the next morning.
This is a good location if needing a safe place to overnight, and the restaurant meal would have been a bonus after a day spent driving.
