Jones Landing is a peaceful reserve on the banks of the Waikato river where self-contained motor-caravanners can freedom camp. It's a beautiful location, with public toilets and a playground, as well as access to the river.

We arrived in the late afternoon, as the sun was setting. The weather was very calm, making for some nice pictures with reflections on the water.

We could see the Bulmers Landing on the other side of the river. It's larger than the Jones Landing, but also sheltered, and a very nice alternative if Jones Landing is full.

The public toilets were well maintained. This is a choice place to stay.

Self-contained caravans and campervans can stay the first two nights free then a camping permit is required for a longer stay. Camping in tents and vehicles requires a camping permit. This can be purchased from the South Waikato District Council offices or the district’s Information Centres. Click here for full details on the council website.
