NORTHLAND: MANGAWHAI

Mangawhai Heads Beach is a stunning location on the ocean beach. There are excellent toilets. It is clearly a very popular location over the summer holiday season.

The large carpark is set well back from the beach and we understand that overnight parking is allowed in self-contained vans. However, the sign at the entrance isn't really clear on this. You might want to check before staying overnight.

It was really busy when we visited on a sunny weekend and we couldn't find anywhere to park our motorhome. There were marked slots long enough at the rear of the carpark, but they had already filled up with cars.

If you're planning to visit in a large vehicle, it would be best to avoid fine weekends over the summer.
